Mardi Gras in Nevada City: February 9 & 10, 2013

North Lake Tahoe comes alive March 1st-10th with fun-filled days and nights, jam packed with events and activities for all ages. On and off the mountain, at North Tahoe’s numerous resorts and vibrant lakeside neighborhoods, there’s something for everyone. Participate in special events, parades, races, parties, concerts, theater; and of course, there’s plenty of wining and dining to be had at North Lake Tahoe’s fine restaurants and lively establishments.

 

30th Annual Sierra Festival of the Arts

Sunday, May 26, 2013 from 10:00am - 5:00pm
Set in historic downtown Grass Valley, California, this annual street faire features fine art and crafts by California artists from a diverse cultural tradition. Free admission.

 Nevada City Annual Summer Nights Celebration

On Wednesdays begining July 17, 2013  through July 31, 2013 from 6-9:30pm

     During Summer Nights, Nevada City’s landmark historic district is closed to motorized traffic and filled with arts, crafts, classic cars, food, drink and music. Leading Sierra foothills musicians perform on outdoor stages throughout the downtown area.

Sierra Storytelling Festival: 

July 19th through the 21st, 2013 at the The North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center. Nationally and internationally known tellers present both poignant and hilarious stories from African, Jewish, and Native American traditions, as well as, heart-warming folk tales. Scheduled for August 1 - 4, 2013 in Downieville, California. Cross Country Race, downhill race, live music, cold beer, swimming holes, bicycle expo, dirt demo, anarchy, trail shuttles, group rides and good times. Contests include:

Miners’ Picnic at Empire Mine State Historic Park :
August 24, 2013, 11 am to 4 pm.

bournmansionempiremine.jpgThe long standing tradition of  Miners’ Picnic continues thanks to the Empire Mine Park Association. The picnic was originally held annually and benefitted the widows and orphans of the miners. Now it is held for the benefit of all the park visitors. Activities include: Food & beverages available , games and entertainment for the children,; gold panning; cake walks; antique automobiles; equipment exhibits / demonstrations, silent auction and living history presentation–volunteers dressed in 1905 period costumes are at the cottage, in the mineyard and intermingling with the picnic’rs.

GOLD RUSH DAYS

 

A good ol’ time in the Streets of Downieville.  Come in period costume for a chance to win great prizes!  Vendors, gold panning, costumn contest, donkey races, BBQ dinner, street dance with live band, stage coach rides, gunfight reenactments, games, and much more!  Two day event, Saturday, September 1 from 8 a.m. to midnight and Sunday, September 2 from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

 

6th Annual Original Big City Rod Run & Car Show

 

Slated for September 20-22, 2013 in Sierra City. Rod run and car show produced by the Northern California Highwaymen.

16th Annual Celtic Festival 

Saturday and Sunday, September 28th & 29th, 2013

Celtic music and magic featuring world-class musicians, jams, dance, pageantry, living history, falconry, athletics, storytelling, and shopping.
Shopping and dining opportunities abound with over 70 vendors and a complete Irish Pub. Hundreds of regional performers, singers, bagpipers, actors, jugglers, and storytellers roam the fairgrounds.

6,000 attendees expected.
